大家請看前方，兩山相擠，中間僅有一通道，其形如門，大有“一夫當關，萬夫莫開”的氣勢，那里就是“南天門”。

人們常說“不到黃石寨，枉來張家界”，可見黃石寨是整個張家界風景的精華。一位著名詩人以前這樣評價黃石寨：“五步稱奇，七步叫絕，十步之外，目瞪口呆。”
此刻呈此刻我們面前的這條“杉林幽徑”，是十多年前人工開鑿的。這條路陡峭而又曲折，在茂密寧靜的杉林里若隱若現。而在還沒有開鑿這條路的時候阿，自古登黃石寨就只有后山一條路了。那此刻大家就隨我一齊，沿著這條“杉林幽徑”，來欣賞一下兩邊讓人目不暇接的風景吧。
大家請注意聽，是否有聽到一陣陣歌聲?前面就是土家姑娘的點歌臺了。此刻就有土家姑娘正在點歌臺上唱著悅耳動聽的土家山歌。大家看，她們穿戴的都是極具代表的土家族服飾。土家姑娘們個個衣著秀麗，載歌載舞，那是對遠道而來的客人表示熱烈的歡迎。一路看著張家界秀美的山山水水，此刻再看到我們熱情好客、善良淳樸的土家姑娘，大家是不是感悟到張家界“山美、水美、人更美”的真諦了呀
大家請看右邊對面的山上，有一個大約20米高的圓形石柱，這上面還有一塊長約三米的、寬1.5米的石匣。在石匣上，有一個石蓋。這石蓋一半凌空，一半蓋于匣上，周圍環繞著五棵翠綠的松柏。傳說呀，張良曾將黃石公的三卷天書藏于匣內，后因戰事平息，張良又取出天書，放置在其他的地方。但是，他卻忘記了合上抽蓋。至今，留下一支半掩半開的石匣。由于這石匣內曾藏過天書，因而被人譽稱為“天書寶匣”。
大家再看看前面這座孤立的柱峰，猜猜那又是什么景點它拔地而起，直插云霄，高達300余米，根部穩扎大地，真像一根擎天石柱!這就是張家界有名的“南天一柱”了，因為立在南天門下面而得名。“南天一柱”是整個“武陵源”風景的特寫，它拔地而起，上大下小。在它身上有一種歷經萬年滄桑卻仍然堅忍不拔的精神，它是整個“武陵源”石英砂巖峰林地貌景觀的縮影，也是“張家界國際森林保護節”的節徽和標志。
好了，此刻我要告訴大家，我們已經順利的登上了黃石寨的寨頂了。前面這座上平下懸的圓形石峰，就是“摘星臺了”。登上“摘星臺”，就會讓人產生一種“一覽眾山小”的感覺。個性是到了晚上，似乎一伸手，就能把天空上的星星摘下來。眼前的這個人工景點就是“六奇閣“。這”六奇“，準確地說是指山奇、水奇、云奇、石奇、動物奇，和植物奇。這也是公園內唯一的人造景觀。
