慶云寺建于明崇幀九年(1636年)，位于肇慶鼎湖山的天溪山谷中。走過半山亭，就可見一紀念亭，沿著亭子后方的小路而上，即可到慶云寺。它是肇慶第一大寺，也是嶺南四大名剎之一(其余的三大分別為韶關南華寺、潮州開元寺、廣州光孝寺)。

光緒十九年(1893年)，慈禧太后六十壽辰時敕賜“萬壽慶云寺”匾和“龍藏經”，并對寺進行修葺，慈禧太后題匾也算是寺內的一個景點。

慶云寺的香火很盛，遇上旅游旺季，可能還得排隊。信佛的可以來拜拜，這里據說很靈驗。慶云寺的建筑按照中軸線對稱布局，自下而上依次為：第一層韋陀殿，內設知客堂、云房，左右分別是鐘樓、鼓樓及客堂、齋堂;第二層為大雄寶殿，內設東土祖師殿、伽藍殿;第三層是中正堂;第四層為毗盧殿，南有藏經樓、七佛樓，北有睡佛樓、佛母樓;第五層為塔殿。
